ACA-BLIND
The Disability Unit at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, started an e-mailing
list in the spring of 1999 for blind and visually impaired students and academics
(especially those in Africa) who wish to talk about access to literature, adaptive
technology, and other tertiary educational issues affecting blind people. The impetus
behind the ACA-BLIND e-mailing list is the need of blind and visually impaired students
and academics to have access to a pool of specialized knowledge, experience, advice and
exchange of ideas. First of its kind in South Africa, this list is not heavily moderated, yet
it should serve as a springboard to varied academic access discussions, including ? but
not limited to ? access to literature, adaptive technology, and the broader activities of
academic institutions.

ACCESS-L
ACCESS-L is an open forum for the free and unmoderated discussion of access. This
discussion can be either a technical one, as related to computers, or a more general
discussion of any aspect of accessibility. It is not, however, limited, and topics of general
interest to the group are encouraged. Although the original emphasis of ACCESS-L was
the discussion of all aspects of computer access for the blind/VI, and many of the list's
subscribers are persons with a "disability," all interested parties are more than welcome
to participate. Those who wish to advertise products are asked not to do it on the list.
However product announcements are welcome as is the participation of interested
vendors. List members are asked to keep all conversation free of personal attacks, racial
remarks, or attacks of a religious nature. There is already enough of that in this world.
The intent is for people to enjoy themselves and not to feel alienated or singled out.
To subscribe to ACCESS-L, type the command: SUBSCRIBE ACCESS-L in the BODY
of an e-message, and send it to: majordomo@icomm.ca To post to ACCESS-L, once

Terry Bray through the facilities of the Internet Community (Icomm). This list is not
associated with any group, university or college and is open to all who wish to
participate. To contact the list owner of ACCESS-L, e-mail: tbray@interlog.com

AGING-VISION
The AGING-VISION list has been established on behalf of mature adults with vision loss
to promote the sharing of information about providing service through the aging network,
the rehabilitation system, and the health care system. AGING-VISION is sponsored by
the American Foundation for the Blind's National Aging and Vision Network. The list
will be used for Network updates, legislative alerts, discussion of policy and program
developments, conference announcements, and other information that subscribers would
like to communicate. The list is open to anyone with an e-mail address who wishes to

AUDIODESCL is a list dedicated to the discussion of Audio Description, an evolving art
that makes performance and public events accessible to the blind and those with low
