LASIK (Laser In-Situ Keratomileusis) information on lasik surgery

Lasik indications and other conditions that require laser vision correction

LASIK Laser In-Situ Keratomileusis, or Lasik is currently the most widely performed laser vision correction refractive eye surgery procedure because it able to correct refractive error for nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism. Lasik eye surgery, also called lasik flap and zap or lasik refractive surgery, combines the minimal post-operative discomfort of Automated Lamellar Keratoplasty (ALK) with the computer-controlled precision of Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK). As in ALK, a flap of corneal tissue is lifted by a laser surgeon to expose underlying tissue, which is then sculpted by the Excimer laser (lazer) as in PRK. LASIK combines the precision of the excimer laser that is used in PRK surgeries with the flap technique that characterizes ALK. Many variations of Lasik exist including flying spot laser and down up LASIK. Lasik price (LASIK surgery cost for lasik laser eye surgery or corrective surgery) can range from $1000 to $2500 per eye. Lasik complications such as glare sometimes occur, but are not common. Lasik is sometimes mispelled as lacik or lasic.
