VisionRx tests permit schools to automate the vision testing of children.
This increases test accuracy and administrative efficiency. VisionRx tests also
enable schools to increase the depth, breadth and frequency of their vision test
programs. Currently, the only eye test most young children receive is a brief
screening at school which only checks their distance vision using an eye chart.
As a result, 10-15% of children (8-12 million kids in the US alone) are at risk
for undetected vision impairments. In fact, 1 out of 4 children have a vision
problem significant enough to affect their performance in school. Many of these
children are suspected of having learning disabilities, dyslexia or attention
deficits when the true culprit is vision.
VisionRx's tests designed specifically for children include:
Visual Acuity Tests
Tests the student's ability to see straight-ahead (central vision).
A variety of VisionRx tests can assess monocular and binocular, near and distance,
aided and unaided visual acuities (e.g., blackboard, book reading and general vision quality). |

 |
Contrast Sensitivity Tests
Tests the student's ability to properly discern objects under a variety of
different lighting conditions (e.g., low lighting and high contrast settings). |
Visual Field Tests
Tests the student's broader field of vision. Identifies vision problems even when central (straight-ahead)
vision appears normal (i.e., peripheral or side vision). |
 |
 |
Color Vision Tests
Tests the student's ability to perceive color and to differentiate specific colors and
shades of color (e.g., color-enhanced reading materials, instructions that call for color discrimination, etc.). |
